Frequently Asked Questions

General
How and in what format will I receive the drawing?
The drawing will be sent to you, typically via email, digitally as a PNG image file.

The dimensions of the final image vary based on the drawing type and the contents of the image, however they are all quite high-res, will look good on your devises, and are suitable for high-quality personal prints.

If you happen to have specific dimension requirements (e.g. square image for a picture frame, or perhaps 3440x1440 for an UltraWide Quad HD monitor), then please just let me know beforehand so I can plan ahead (in case it affects the composition). Also, I'm always happy to crop/resize the final image, so just ask.
How long does a drawing take?
Aside from the drawing type and complexity for a particular drawing, the delivery date will largely depend on my availability and how packed my drawing queue is. I try to include a delivery date estimate for each individual drawing type on my request page.

Additionally, I provide a rough delivery estimate with each request. However, please know that I reserve spots in my queue only after the payment has been made, so I am able to provide more-accurate estimates then.

Naturally, the duration varies depending on the drawing type and the desired complexity. As you can imagine, a fully-illustrated epic multi-level battlefield scene with numerous monsters and characters takes longer than a bust of a plain mannequin-looking warforged.

In the case of a Full Body Character Drawing, for example, it takes me about 3-4 days to complete a drawing. Sometimes it takes me a little less than that, and sometimes quite a bit more.

Also, for certain drawing types I offer to include a rough sketch before the final draft, which is an opportunity for us to discuss and confirm that we're headed in the right direction, or make any changes, if necessary. Typically, the final draft is ready about a week after the rough sketch has been confirmed.

Please keep in mind that one of the factors for the way I've priced my drawings is how long an average drawing takes, and if the request contains something extraordinarily time-consuming or complex, then there will likely be extra cost associated with that. Please know, however, that I will inform you well in advance if that is the case and we'll have the opportunity to discuss and figure out the best path forward.

Lastly, it's important to mention that life happens and sometimes delays occur. Please know that my approach, despite any turbulence or delay, has been to always prioritize the art (without rushing it or compromising on the quality) which doesn't help when there are delays, but that's just non-negotiable for me.
Can you draw characters from another TTRPG?
Yes, gladly!

I love learning about new characters and TTRPGs, so feel free to get into the backstory and mechanics of your character and the TTRPG that you're playing.
Are you able to do other styles?
Yes, I'm definitely open to it.

I mainly try to do realism and semi-realism, but I don't do Chibi or Anime styles.

Just let me know what style you are looking for and we can discuss to figure out a path forward.
Can you do custom backgrounds or complex scenes?
Gladly! I like a good challenge. However, please know that this will be outside of the usual rates, and the extra cost would entirely depend on what you have in mind.

Submit a request and let's discuss.
Can you draw someone's likeness?
Yes.

Please make sure to provide visual references if it's not a famous person.
Do you do NSFW art?
Yes, but only tasteful artistic depictions.

As a general rule of thumb, the NSFW aspect should not be the main focus point of the piece.
Are all your drawings hand drawn?
Yes, I use a display tablet with a stylus, in photoshop.
Pricing and Payment
What payment methods do you accept?
I currently accept payments primarily through PayPal. It's convenient, secure, and available virtually everywhere.

For other methods we'd have to discuss further so I can evaluate the feasibility, however please know that I don't accept crypto.
Do I have to pay upfront in full or in installments?
Full payment upfront and no installments.

Please know that I reserve spots in my queue only after the payment has been made, and that's how I've operated will all my clients since the very beginning.

I may only consider installments for larger contractual commercial projects.
Do you offer refunds?
Certainly. I'll outline it below, but see my refund policy for more details.

I'm willing to provide a full refund if you ask ask to cancel BEFORE the process of working on the artwork has begun, or if I indicate that I cannot provide/finish the artwork for some reason.

Of course, I'm also willing to provide a partial refund to switch the order type, however again only BEFORE the process of working on the paid-for artwork has begun.
Are the rates for group drawings different?
I hate to give a vague answer, but it really depends on what you have in mind. As a general rule, if all of the characters in the drawing need to be fully visible, then the rates would be the same as ordering multiple individual characters. On the other hand, if some characters will be partially visible in the finished composition, then there might be room for a discount. Please get in touch with me via email and let's discuss.
Are there are any added fees?
Typically not, but if the request contains something extraordinarily time-consuming or complex then depending on the particular case some extra cost might indeed be required.

Examples of things that might warrant additional cost include but are not limited to: large magic effects, high quantity of props/equipment, large familiars, additional characters.

Please know that I will inform you well in advance if any extra cost is necessary and we'll have the opportunity to discuss and figure out the best path forward.
Are the prices on your website only for drawings intended for personal use?
Yes, the default prices are indeed only for drawings intended for personal use, so please make sure to reach out to me if you're thinking about using the art for a reason that might fall outside of personal use.

If you're unsure if your use case falls outside personal use, then please don't hesitate to reach out via email and get a confirmation from me.
How much do you charge for commercial work?
Naturally, the price depends on the complexity of the work and on the licensing terms. For some perspective, as a rough estimate, you can expect commercial work from me to cost about 3-5 times the personal-use prices you see on my website.

It's important to note that I take the specifics into account before agreeing to commercial projects, and budget is not the only only factor I care about, so please feel free to reach out to me via email and introduce me to your cool project.

Please note that all of also includes applies to cases when someone orders a drawing for personal use and then wants to use it for commercial purposes.
Requesting a Drawing
What is the process for commissioning a drawing?
It all typically starts with the request page. There you can use the structured form to specify all the details and visual references you'd like about your drawing. Alternatively, you can provide this information via email, if that's what you'd prefer.

You will be given the option to pay immediately after submitting the request. Please know that I reserve spots in my queue only after the payment has been made, however no payment is required to submit a request.

I will get in touch with you after reviewing the details in your request. Once the details are agreed upon, and you've made the purchase, I will begin the drawing process.

Depending on the drawing type, I can send a rough sketch for you to approve so we can discuss and confirm that we're headed in the right direction. We can also skip the rough sketch to save some time.

You will receive the finished drawing via email, and if there are no final touch-ups to be made, then that should be the end of that journey - until the next one!

As a very short summary of steps:
  1. Request and payment
  2. Rough Sketch (optional, and depends on drawing type)
  3. Final Drawing
What information should I include in the request?
The structured form on the request page has dedicated fields for general information that I'm looking for.

For the appearance field, feel free to include as much backstory and details about your character as you think is necessary for me to be able bring them to life the way that you envision them.

Visual references are always helpful, so please either include links in the appearance field, or send them separately via email.

If you already have something like a prepared Google Doc, then feel free to just paste the link in the appearance field.
How do I include visual references in the requests?
You can include visual references either by including links in the appearance field of the request form, or by sending the visuals separately via email.
Are you currently accepting commissions?
Yes!

You may submit a request to commission a drawing from me using my request page.
Personal Use and Commercial Use
May I use the drawing for commercial purposes?
By default, all of the illustrations commissioned through my website are intended strictly for personal use, so you may NOT use them in any commercial capacity without receiving explicit written permission from me.

I'd be more than glad to draw something for you for commercial use or allow you to use your existing personal-use drawing commercially, but only after we've discussed and agreed on the the terms. So shoot me an email if that's what you're after.
May I post the drawing on social media?
Of course! I am happy that you want to share my drawings with others on the internet. Please make sure to include a link to my website, LianaDraws.com, alongside the drawing.

I would prefer that you not modify the image when you post it and I do insist that the watermark be fully visible, even if you decide to post a cropped version. At the very least include a link to my website, LianaDraws.com, in a prominent location, if you want to crop the drawing in order to highlight a part of it. If you'd like, you can reach out me via email and I can crop it for you.

The reason I include a watermark in my drawings is because once an image finds its way to the internet it gets spread around by people through sites like Pinterest and becomes visible on numerous search engines, and once that happens a lot of context gets lost. Without that memento there's no way to trace back the drawing to me and I can no longer have control of my art. I've deliberately made the watermark as unobtrusive as possible to avoid any issues with this.
May I use your art in live streams or other videos?
Only if you reach out to me and get my explicit written permission. Using my art in your public streams or videos definitely falls outside of personal use.

Having said that, as an avid consumer of various actual play series and TTRPG content myself, I do want to encourage creators and their audiences to have a better visual experience with their beloved worlds, stories, and characters, so if you simply reach out to me via email then I will likely agree for your to use my art on your streams/videos.

To be clear, if I do grant this permission, that doesn't mean that you then get to print and sell posters or shirts of my art, or use my art in any other commercial capacity. This would only be permissible with a full commercial license, which would entail payment for said commercial license.

Please know that I do insist that you provide verbal and written credit to LianaDraws.com in any video/stream where my artwork appears on the screen.
May I use my character's drawing for VTT icons?
Yes, that falls under personal use for me, and I can even crop them for you.

If you're unsure if your use case falls outside personal use, then please don't hesitate to reach out via email and get a confirmation from me.
May I use your art in or for generative AI?
No, you may not.

I explicitly forbid anyone and everyone from using my art in, for, or around any generative AI works.
May I use drawings from your gallery in my personal games?
Yes, as long as its offline and for personal use.

Most of the drawings are commissioned pieces, from TTRPG players just like you. Please be responsible with the art, but most importantly have fun in your games, and expect that your drawing will also be used the same way and inspire others!
May I print your art for personal use?
Yes. As long as it's intended for offline and personal use.

I really enjoy seeing how people decorate their walls and gaming rooms, so please send me a photo via email if you do have my art printed and displayed.
Other
What equipment do you use for drawing?
I typically use a HUION KAMVAS Pro 20 with my desktop PC.

Other than that, especially when I'm on the go, I use a Microsoft Surface Pro 8.
How long have you been drawing?
I've been drawing almost all my life. However, I've been doing LianaDraws since January of 2020.

If you're just starting out, please don't compare yourself to others and simply continue pursuing your passion.
Where can I follow you and see your new drawings?
Aside from my gallery page you can also check out all my social media links on the contact page.
